How To Measure an Awning:
Scallops:
Terminology:
- Width:
the measurement or extent of something from side to side.
- Drop:
vertical measurement from the top of the awning to the bottom.
- Projection:
measurement of how far out the awning will come out from the wall.
- Valance (Optional):
For Decoration or 8″ – 10″ of additional protections. Commercial buildings use the Valance to put their address or name of establishment.
- Loose Valance:
Hangs at the end of the awning with a scallop design.
- Rigid Valance:
Fixed Panel.
- Scallop:
series of curved, square or straight cut design at the end of the valance.
- Binding:
decorative trim piece that follows the shape of the bottom of the valance.
- Side Ends:
(Optional) Additional side protection from the side of the awning to decrease sun or rain protection.
- Recover:
Replacement of the fabric while using the existing frame.
